Our client is a leading global consultancy firm with a well-established energy storage advisory team and we are seeking to grow this team further. This position reports to Northern Europe, Middle East and Africa Energy Storage Head of Department and will be based in Sweden with a preference for Stockholm.  This role will combine project delivery and business development for the Nordics and Baltics. We are seeking a senior consultant with prior industry experience in preferably both the technical and market aspects of energy storage and electric vehicle projects to support the growing interest in Battery Energy Storage Systems from our customers in the region. 

The role will require spending time with customers to understand their challenges and needs and aligning and developing services to meet identified needs. Although the main focus will be on batteries in the power system, the consultant will also start to develop relationships with the maritime community and experience of battery applications in shipping would be nice to have but not essential.

 The key accountabilities for the role are to:

  • Identify, drive and facilitate sales and market led opportunities in energy storage, electric vehicles and the electrification of the maritime industry e.g. generate leads, delivering high quality proposals and close deals.

  • Support the execution of energy storage projects which may include preparing proposals, management of projects, acting as the main point of contact for the Customer, technical due diligence, procurement support, report writing, presentations, hosting Customer training courses, etc.

  • Analyse new business opportunities, gather market intelligence and ensure distribution of knowledge amongst relevant people to enable strong resource planning and competency development of staff.

  • Support internal collaboration.

  • Prepare technical presentations and marketing materials and deliver to customers and to peers and audiences at relevant industry events.

  • Develop your external network to identify potential projects and your internal network to share knowledge and opportunities.

  • Work closely with the Market Area Manager for the Nordics and Baltics to develop the energy storage business and strategy.

  • Manage multiple projects to ensure they are completed within timescale and budget.

  • Lead the bid/no bid decision for Storage projects in the region.

You will:

be expected to spend a minimum of 40-50% of time on chargeable work.

Meet yearly targets for order intake & order pipeline development.

ensure compliance with working procedures as defined by our client, the Energy Business Area and local management.

Position Qualifications

  • Degree qualification - in engineering or economics

  • Knowledge and understanding of energy storage systems (specifically Battery Energy Storage Systems) and applications prospects/trends

  • Experience and expertise in the Nordics and Baltics energy market and the role that energy storage can play in the market

  • Understanding of technical/regulatory and market/economic aspects of transmission and distribution systems, and associated network connections, management, project development and control activities

  • Experience of building long-term client relationships

  • Good understanding of the commercial basis for projects

  • Demonstrates a professional approach to their work and is a good role model for junior engineers.

  • Strong competence in proposal & report writing, ensuring clear and accurate reports are produced in English, Swedish and/or Norwegian.

  • Strong interpersonal, relationship and stakeholder management skills. Ability to handle the complex (technical) problems and be able to guide individuals through the associated issues.

  • Ability to juggle and manage conflicting work priorities to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills (both verbal and written), able to work effectively within a consultancy environment.

  • Able to co-operate well with others; shares knowledge, experience and information; and supports others in pursuit of team goals.
