The job

Our client are looking for a Head of Metering to join our rapidly growing energy start-up and take ownership of all things metering – both Smart and legacy.

Our client have a unique relationship with a meter operator (MOP) and meter asset manager (MAM) meaning they’re one of the leading installers of Smart meters in the UK.  Directly reporting to the Head of Industry Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a Brighton based team of metering specialists. 

You will take responsibility for every part of the Smart meter customer journey.  If you haven’t worked in a role connected to metering UK Energy Supplier, this might not be the role for you.  Our client are specifically looking for candidates with detailed understanding of meter exchange processes. If you’ve got experience with Junifer CRM, Morrisons Data Services USS, Secure Smart meters or the DCC then all the better. This Management role is also expected to take the lead in change decisions and work with the Head of Industry Operations on setting the department strategy.

You’ll be in charge of delivering a key target for the business – for 90% of our clients’ customers to have a Smart meter by 2020.  You’ll develop and deliver strategies and processes to meet this target, ensuring efficiency and a great customer experience.  Working with our client’s partner meter operator, you’ll build simple and effective processes that make life easy for employees and customers.  As our client progresses to a nationwide rollout of SMETS v2 Smart meters, this role will be instrumental in their success.

Our client is part of the new generation of energy supply businesses built on a new foundation of smart technology alongside energy retail. The traditional utility model is changing and our client is looking to help our customers benefit most from that change.

Through connected home technology and smart meter data our client is focussed on making life easier for our customers by enabling them through intelligent information provision delivering the control and support they need through via smartphone or mobile device technology. Based on the south coast, our client will be growing their team significantly over the coming months.

Our client is rolling out Smart Metering across all customers and building out their metering management function. In this role you will be principally taking responsibility and ownership for their metering function, and then continue to build out your role dependant on performance.
In this role, you will organise and manage our client’s metering activities, associated metering service contracts, and the roll-out of the SMART Metering programme with the customer at the centre of your decisions.This is whilst working in a rewarding, dynamic and agile environment with a progressive team who are redefining and disrupting the energy retail industry.

You will own all stakeholder relationships including: DCC, MAM, MOP and Smart Meter deployment programme. You will have the full support and assistance from the team but, based on your experience, you will be leading and proposing the direction of these activities and ensuring their smooth execution.

As a start-up, our client needs someone who can perform not only within this role, but can continue to build out their position within the company.

THE ROLE

As part of the Metering team, the role will be to work on data quality in our CRM system giving support to our Customer Care team queries, speaking with our partners and suppliers via phone and email, managing different back office processes.


RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·        Maintaining accurate account information within the CRM system about gas and electricity consumptions

·        Overseeing customers’ registrations and industry exceptions

·        Managing relevant mailboxes and handling inbound and outbound phone calls with other suppliers for the resolution of disputed meter readings

·        Liaising with internal teams and external parties on the resolution of industry operations enquiries

·        Managing data entry and administration tasks

·        Ensuring resolution of any day to day operational issues

·        Ensuring that all work areas are compliant with legal and regulatory constraints such as supplier licence obligations and policies

 

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·       Assisting other internal teams on metering related issues

·       Reporting and monitoring workload as requested

·       Accomplishing other ad-hoc duties as requested by Team Leader, Manager or Head of Department

THE ROLE

As part of the Metering Team, you will be responsible for the management of metering related queries. You will deal with industries and customers queries, and liaise with our third parties to investigate potential meter faults, book appointments and ensure that customers’ details are continuously updated in our system.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintaining our CRM system updated with accurate customers’ information
  • Assisting Customer Care team with customers metering enquiries
  • Booking meters exchanges and investigations with our metering agents and ensuring that all the jobs have been processed correctly and relevant meters’ details have been updated in our systems
  • Checking accuracy of jobs invoices and that relevant jobs have been charged to customers if needed
  • Ensuring timely resolution of all metering enquiries
  • Managing off supply emergencies
  • Managing relevant mailboxes and handling inbound and outbound phone calls with other internal team and external third-party service providers
  • Investigating any Appointment or De-appointment data flow that has not been successfully processed
  • Improving Settlement performance ensuring validation of actual meter readings
  • Ensuring resolution of any day to day operational issues
  • Ensuring that all work areas are compliant with legal and regulatory constraints such as supplier licence obligations and policies

Role Summary:

As part of the Billing team, the role will be to work on data quality in our CRM system, taking care of different back office processes via the integrated ticketing system, while following the whole end to end operations, from customer on-boarding, through billing, metering and payments.

Responsibilities:

  • Dealing with escalated queries and account amendments, using the integrated Billing Platform’s ticketing system
  • Day to day operation of a Utilities Billing Platform
  • Issue invoices to customers
  • Providing support to the billing team, being responsible of a range of daily activities and of the maintenance of excel tracker files.
  • Creating credits and re-bills to ensure accurate billing
  • Liaise with third parties to maintain day to day operations

Skills & Experience:

  • Have held a Billings/Invoice processing position previously is desirable
  • Be immediately available
  • Knowledge of the Energy Industry and its operations essential
  • Be able to identify areas of improvement and errors
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Must be a quick learner with the ability to work using your own initiative
  • Attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines
